Celebrating the Holidays With our Families

Santa visits Bonnie Academy #Santa

One way Bonnie Academy fosters belonging is by providing various interactive learning opportunities that celebrate each individual’s uniqueness. Our approach ensures that similarities and differences are respected and celebrated every day, all year long. In addition to celebrating diversity through our everyday interactions, Bonnie Academy has a variety of holiday traditions that help teach about the importance of belongingness.

One of our favorite traditions is our Christmas party. Every year, we have a party for our families the week before Christmas. This is a great opportunity for the children to share their Christmas wishes with each other and celebrate their shared holiday traditions. We also have a large holiday party for the entire school where we celebrate all of the different holidays that are celebrated by our students and families. This is a great way to celebrate the diversity of our school community and to teach our students about the importance of belongingness.

This year, we will also be celebrating Kwanzaa at school. Kwanzaa is a holiday that celebrates family, community, and culture. We will be reading stories about different African cultures and learning about the traditional foods and customs of the Kwanzaa celebration. We will also make decorations and gifts for our families to help celebrate this memorable holiday.

No matter what holiday your family celebrates, there are many ways to foster a sense of belongingness. The most important thing is to create a community where everyone feels valued and respected. By celebrating diversity and teaching the importance of belongingness, we can help our students learn to embrace and appreciate the unique qualities that make each of us special.
